The Tinju Petahanan system is a synthesis of Vinh Xuan (system master D. Noi N'Guyen) Chinese Kempo and Maenpo Silat technics and was founded by N'Guyen Noi who was a Vinh Xuan master black belt 8nd.
This synthesis resulted from blending the kicking techniques, the punching techniques and the footwork of the two arts in order to transmit an easy to learn system with a solid basis to practicioners.
Some punching techniques come from the Maenpo that was taught by N'Guyen Noi's brother.
Ground fighting isn't a priority in Tinju Petahanan as taking the fight to the ground in a multiple-opponent scenario can be very dangerous.
However, Tinju Petahan offers efficient solutions when facing one enemy on the ground
Systems like Dumog or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are excellent, and mastering the basics of these two systems can well enhance self defense.
Tinju Petahanan is based on the sensitiveness, the reaction and expolosion of movements. Minimal system, easy system ! There are no forms and no techniques to be learned alone. The essence of the style is learned working with an opponent.
After having spent many years learning with the founder of the style the teachers relocated in France. They can be found in the region of Marseille, in the Alps of northern Provence.
As the master wished, few students are accepted each year. This is to guarantee a complete and high quality formation of the students.
Knife fighting is approached and studied when reaching the black belt level. Different systems-from the push dagger to the hunting knife, are studied as each knife is different and requires a different usage
